As a member of The SRGB group, its with great excitement that I have anticipated the judging and selection for The SRGB National Print Exhibition 2015.
The Exhibition is a national Annual event, that all residents of The United Kingdom are invited to enter. All SRGB members can enter the exhibition, but have an agreement that any images that are selected by the judges for awards, are removed from the selection and placed into a members only section to be considered for awards away from the general entry, so as to not take away any of the awards from the general entry.
I had ten prints accepted into the exhibition. Three of the prints were selected for awards anonymously by the judges, with one print 'Twister Rabbit' receiving the Gold Award for the best members print.
This is the 3rd SRGB print exhibition, and once again the entries and standard was impressive. We had three excellent judges in Libby Smith, Anne Greiner and Steven Le Prost from afar afield as The Channel Islands and Scotland.
All members in addition to the judges selections and awards, get to award a separate award for their favourtie shortlisted image, and the author receives a unique keyring award.
The exhibition features some of the finest photographic prints from across the UK. There will be over 200 top quality prints on display in The SRGB photography exhibition, including a showcase of award winning prints. The exhibition has various themes including:
Creatures of the world,
Step out of the box.
The exhibition is ran, managed and staffed by members of The SRGB Photography group based in Southport. The group has a small membership, and meets twice a month in Southport to promote, encourage and develop their own photographic skills and knowledge, and also to promote and encourage others to not only take photographs, but to print and display them in all their glory. Holding a print in ones hands is the final stage of photography, and is something the group encourage.
The SRGB Exhibition is a member exhibition of ‘The British Photography Exhibiton’ organisation, and carries patronage from ‘The Photographic Alliance of Great Britain’. The exhibitions main sponsors are ‘Wilkinsons Cameras’ and other sponsors include Permajet, Paper Spectrum and Fotospeed.
The Exhibition runs 5th – 19th September 2015 at Dobbies, Benthams Way, Birkdale, Southport with the awards being made on Saturday 5th September. The exhibition is free to enter, and is located adjacent to Dobbies restaurant and tea rooms.
